Articles Submission and Guidelines


Thank you for your interest in submitting an article or photo for use in the East Antrim Astronomical Society.

If this is the first time you are submitting content to the EAAS, click here to read our guidelines and learn where your articles may appear in addition to the EAAS web site.

Please note: We only accept submissions from the original author of the articles or a publicist hired by the copyright owner to submit material here. By submitting material, you acknowledge that you are legally entitled to distribute the work and to allow it to be redistributed. (If you are a book publisher or public relations firm with copy to distribute, please include a note to that effect at the top of the article you submit. ) We do not pay for articles, and do not accept articles that are primarily advertisements. However, you may place a brief resource box and contact information (but no ads) at the end of your article.

 

Photo Submission
 

If you are not an EAAS member:-

  1. Click on this e-mail link or go to your e-mail web account.
  2. Please use the following filename for your photos.
    yyyymmdd_hhmmUT__location_subject_name.jpg
  3. Attach any appropriate photos to the e-mail message. Use the highest quality jpg setting.
  4. Send your images attached to your email.
  5. Use an online spell checker. JSpell

 

EAAS Members and associates can use the new gallery to upload an image:-

  1. Prepare your photo to be less than 1024 kilobytes, 1200x1024 pixels and the filename to be
    yyyymmdd_hhmmUT_location_subject_yourname.jpg
  2. Login to the gallery(Registration by approval)
  3. Hover mouse over "house" icon and click on "Upload file".
  4. Select file to upload and click Continue and then again after upload complete.
  5. Select the album to place the photo into and please fill in as much information as you can about your image. Feel free to use the description to tell us about your observing and imaging session.
 
Article Submission


To send your article:-

  1. Click on this e-mail link or go to your e-mail web account.
  2. Copy and paste the layout below, answering the questions as appropriate.
  3. Attach any appropriate photos to your e-mail.
  4. Please be sure your by-line appears below the title of the article.
  5. To speed up submission to the EAAS website, please format the article the way you would like it to appear on the website.
  6. Please spell check your e-mail or it may be rejected. If you do not have a spell checker use this online version. JSpell

Guidelines


Submission to the EAAS includes the web site, monthly newsletter and mailing list. By submitting an article to us, you agree to let us use the article not only on the EAAS web site, but any place that content from the EAAS is used. You, however, retain the copyright to your work and are free to reuse it in any way you want.

We are interested in seeing  well-written features, how-to articles, book excerpts, "how I did it" stories, tips and hints,  instructions, motivational articles and other articles that will help fellow astronomers, observers and beginners gain knowledge that will help them succeed in their astronomy hobby.

Among the broad subject areas we cover are visual observing, star party news, equipment reviews, constellation guides, astro-photography and using computer technology in astronomy.
