This is the first time I have connected the Canon 300D digital SLR at prime focus to the Meade LX200. I did a number of unguided 30 second exposures to get an idea for the field of view using the relatively large CMOS chip of the Canon in comparison to the Starlight Xpress MX7C. Focusing is still the big issue as this is a true SLR and does not have a live preview on the screen so patience is required while the seeing conditions can make things frustrating. I am relatively pleased with this photo but I know that this is just a short exposure and getting the piggyback mount tuned for guiding will be a priority over the coming days as longer exposures are a necessity.
