Capturing device used
  Nikon coolpix4500
Technical details
7 exposures at 45 seconds each set at ISO400, 5 exposures at 45 seconds each set at ISO800. all 12 frames were then aligned and stacked in registax 3. final touch ups were done in paintshop pro 9.

I used a lumicon deep sky filter threaded to the eyepiece to reduce sodium vapour light pollution which did a great job in bring out more detail in the final processed image! This is my best result at deep sky imaging so far. The nikon coolpix 4500 is a great camera for this type of work! It captured some excellent red colours, also green toward the centre of M42. some detail in the gas cloud structures are visible in the image as well. The ISO 800 setting is a great plus to have with this camera!

Clear Skies!!!
