Below, the photo shows Jupiter on its run up to occultation on the 23 February 2002. The image was taken using a 102mm f/5 refractor and 18mm eyepiece and a simple digital camera giving 27x.

This image below was taken using the same equipment as above but with a barlow lens giving 54x.

James, who is a farmer, recalls that he was very busy both watching sheep lamb, and taking the images in between showers of sleet and snow. Unfortunately, he missed the actual disappearance and reappearance because of cloud. In fact, as the whole country was virtually clouded out he was very lucky to see anything!
