UFOs ?

Heh! Got you going there didn't we! Funny how many times astronomers are asked are there any UFOs, or was this or that a UFO. Often it is something altogether more boring. For example in picture below a cloud type that is often mistaken. This display is of a Lenticular Cloud, while not astronomical, these clouds are caused by localised condensation and sometimes take on funny shapes as you can see. No wonder they are mistaken for UFO's.

The Image shown was taken May 17 2001 with an APS camera at about 18.30UT by John McConnell EAAS Chairman.
